Priced at $75.00 per person, our classes offer exceptional value for an unforgettable experience. But act fast – with a maximum capacity of 12 participants per session, space is limited. Chef Alessandro 'Alex' Stratta is a culinary maestro hailing from a lineage of esteemed restaurateurs, innkeepers, and hoteliers dating back to the 1800s. Alex's journey began at the famed 'Royal Superga,'' a luxury inn nestled in Cuneo, Italy. Raised in a multicultural environment where food served as the universal language, Stratta honed his palate and linguistic skills, mastering French, Italian, Spanish, and English.

His culinary journey took him across continents, from the bustling streets of Karachi to the vibrant shores of Acapulco, before settling in the United States. Amidst the diverse culinary landscape of San Francisco, he embarked on formal culinary training at 'The California Culinary Academy,' under the tutelage of renowned pastry chef, Jim Dodge. Alex's apprenticeship under the legendary Alain Ducasse at 'Le Louis XV' in Monte Carlo was especially impactful on the trajectory of his career. Upon relocating to New York City, Alex refined his craft alongside culinary luminary Daniel Boulud at 'Le Cirque,' where he embraced the fusion of classical techniques with innovative flair. Alex later seized the opportunity to helm the fine dining establishment 'Mary Elaine's' at 'the Phoenician Resort' in Scottsdale, Arizona. His culinary prowess garnered accolades and acclaim, propelling him to the forefront of the Southwest's dining scene. In a collaboration with developer Charles Keating, Alex ventured into the burgeoning culinary landscape of Las Vegas, opening the critically acclaimed 'Renoir' at 'The Mirage Resort.'

The pinnacle of Alex's career came with the inception of his eponymous restaurant, 'Alex,' at the esteemed Wynn Las Vegas. Amidst fierce competition, 'Alex' swiftly established itself as the epitome of culinary excellence, garnering top honors such as the Mobil 5-star and AAA Five Diamond awards. Alex later partnered to create 'Campo Italian Bistro and Bar.' Alex has enjoyed several television competitions throughout his career including "Italian Iron Chef, Iron Chef America, 2000," "Top Chef Masters, 2012," "Beat Bobby Flay, 2014," and "Guy's Grocery Games, 2018."

Alex brings his illustrious career spanning continents and culinary genres to the Tasting Room at Surf City Still works where he continues to enrich palates and hearts alike with his enduring passion for the art of fine cuisine.

Gaston Martinez, a son of Argentine immigrants, embodies his father's ethos of hard work, pride, and loyalty. With three decades in the Food and Beverage industry, Gaston is renowned as an innovator and reliable partner in culinary pursuits.

In his five-year tenure as Bar Manager at 'Nora's Cuisine,' Gaston earned numerous accolades, including the prestigious "Best Cocktail Bar Off the Strip" title bestowed by Tony Abou-Ganim for three consecutive years. Recognized as the inaugural "Neighborhood Mixologist" by Francesco LaFranconi, Gaston is a distinguished graduate of 'LaFranconi's Academy of Fine Spirits and Service.' Under his guidance, 'Nora's Cuisine' was honored as one of the world's best cocktail bars by Simon Difford.

Gaston's apprenticeship under industry luminaries such as Bobby "G" Gleason, Dell DeGraph, and Tony Abou-Ganim fueled his passion for mixology. As a member of the 'United States Bartenders Guild,' Gaston achieved remarkable feats, including clinching the 'U.S.B.G Pan-American National Championship' and representing the US at the 'Pan-American Games.' He also hosted and participated in numerous USBG cocktail competitions and filmed a mixology pilot for the Food Network.

A seasoned ambassador for brands like 'Milagro Tequila' and 'William Grant Portfolio,' Gaston's influence extends beyond the bar. Recognized as a top 'American Ambassador at Tales of the Cocktail,' he received 'Supplier of the Year' awards from 'Fleming's' and 'On the Border.' Gaston's collaborations with renowned chefs like Mario Batali and José Andrés underscore his culinary acumen.

Gaston's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish 'Monzu,' a local boutique restaurant acclaimed for its award-winning beverage program. As State Manager for 'Infinium Spirits,' he facilitated brand placement in national accounts like MGM properties. Gaston imparts his expertise as an educator at UNLV, teaching spirits and restaurant management classes. Gaston brings his legacy of excellence and a commitment to innovation with him to the Tasting Room at Surf City Still Works.
